SYNOPSIS:
|
|
|
Delstar Converter
Module is an electronic system to be
interfaced with the existing Star Delta starter. When the load on the
motor is less than 50% of full load, it switches the motor to operate
in STAR to SAVE ENERGY. When the load increases beyond 50%, it
automatically switches the motor to operate in DELTA. The starting
regimen is not disturbed.
This module is recommended
for applications where load changes are not too fast. Suitable for any
capacity motor by using appropriate Current Transformer(C.T)and
calibrating the same for the appropriate capacity of the Motor(carried
out at the Factory before dispatch).

ADVANTAGES:
|
|
|
Energy saving(Refer
to the Energy Saving Data in chart below)
Reduction in KVA , contributing to reduction in maximum demand.
Improvement in power factor
Motor runs cooler leading to increased motor life.
Motor protection (Run Over Load, Start Over Load, Single Phasing and
Motor Over Temperature Trips).
|
|
|
|
SCOPE FOR SAVING:
|
|
Given below is a
table showing the scope for saving energy
for the motors of different capacity ranges at different loads. The
actual values will vary from motor to motor and the savings can be
higher or lower depending upon electrical parameters and mechanical
condition of the motor.

ENERGY SAVING DATA FOR A 5 HP MOTOR:
|
|
In tests conducted on
a 5 HP motor with a full load
current of 7.9 amps the savings on no load is 65.3%, reduction in
operating current is upto 79.4%, reduction in demand 78.8% and
improvement in power factor 60%. Please refer to the table given below :

Similarly the saving on a 12.5 H.P. motor on no Load is 540 Watts AS
AGAINST 740 Watts(73% savings).

|
DIFFERENT OPTIONS AVAILABLE ARE:
|
|
|
a) Start in star and
changeover to Delta and then operate in Star or delta, based on load.
b) Start in Delta and changeover to star when the load is less than 50%
(for motors
with high
starting torque requirement).
c) Changeover from Star to Delta based on current instead of time.(It
is likely that the Motor is started with different loads at different
times and the timing set in the timer may not be always suitable for
these differing loads. It may be too high or too small. Hence this
facility will take care of this type of problem).
Supply Voltage Required: 230 V or 415 V 50 Hz.
UNITERRUPTED AND HIGHLY SATISFACTORY FUNCTIONING GUARANTEED.
TATA ENERGY RESEARCH INSTITUTE, BANGALORE has evaluated the product
under actual working conditions and have certified the product. Being
recommended by Energy Cell of CONFEDERATION OF INDIAN INDUSTRIES and a
number of Energy consultants and Energy Auditors.

NOTES : SM2D and EM1D are same as SM2 and EM1 but provided with
Digital Indication for Operating Current, respectively. Similarly,
suffix T indicates that the unit is provided with an Hour Counter to
log the number of hours of operation in either in Star or Delta. EM1P
and EM2P are sealed models corresponding to the respective models with
specifications which are identical. However all optional features
cannot be provided. The size of EM1P is 125*80*60 mm and EM2P is
100*80*50 mm. These are suitable for use in various areas where there
is constraint in space, highly corrosive and explosion prone areas.
All
models are provided with LED Indications for Power On, Star(energy
saving), Delta, and all protections. Contactor life can be extended by
an addition accessory supplied as optional.

NOTES
1) In all cases, we have considered working hours / year as 5000 and
rate of energy @ Rs. 5/- per
unit.
2)
Savings arising out of reduction in KVA(Maximum Demand), which is
substantial, has not been taken
into account
for pay-back calculations.
MORE THAN 650 UNITS ARE WORKING IN SEVERAL INDUSTRIAL ESTABLISHMENTS
VERY SATISFACTORILY.
DUE TO
CONSTANT IMPROVEMENTS, SPECIFICATIONS/DESIGN ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE.
